MONROE, La. – The Little Rock women's golf team returns to action Monday and Tuesday as it competes in the ULM Invitational at Bayou Desiard Country Club in Monroe, Louisiana.
The two-day event, hosted by ULM, features a strong NCAA Division I field as the Trojans continue their spring slate.
Little Rock enters the week looking to build on a solid performance at the Puerto Rico Iguana Invitational, where the Trojans finished fifth in an eight-team field. The Trojans posted rounds of +17, +7 and +13 to finish at +37 overall against a competitive field.
"We saw a lot of good things in Puerto Rico," Little Rock head coach
Jenna Birch said. "Our team showed resilience and handled a challenging course well. Now it's about continuing to build on that and putting together three consistent rounds."
Junior
Eleonore Aernouts paced the Trojans in Puerto Rico, finishing tied for 12th at +7, while sophomore
Iara Martin continued her steady spring with a top-20 finish at +9. Cloe Poizac delivered one of the team's top rounds of the tournament with a final-round 73, and
Fehild Graesel matched her at +11 for the event.
That core group returns to the lineup this week, joined by
Elvira Flodstrom, as the Trojans look to continue trending upward heading into the final stretch of the spring season.
Nina Pitsch and
Petra Balkovec will compete as individuals.
"Depth has been a strength for us this spring," Birch said. "We've had multiple players step up each event, and that's what it takes to compete at a high level. We're focused on staying disciplined, managing the course and giving ourselves opportunities late in rounds."
Bayou Desiard Country Club presents a different test than the coastal layout in Puerto Rico, placing an emphasis on precision and course management.
"This is a course where you have to stay patient and make smart decisions," Birch said. "If we do that and trust our preparation, we'll put ourselves in a good position."
