Trojans Wrap Up Play at Puerto Rico Iguana Invitational

HUMACAO, Puerto Rico – The Little Rock women's golf team closed out play Thursday at the Puerto Rico Iguana Invitational with a fifth-place finish at the Flamboyan Course at Palmas Del Mar Country Club.

The Trojans finished the three-day event at +37 overall, posting rounds of +17, +7, and +13 in the eight-team field.

Georgia State claimed the team title at +13, followed by Central Arkansas (+16), Arkansas State (+20), and Ball State (+21).

Eleonore Aernouts led the Trojans individually, finishing tied for 12th overall at +7 after carding a four-over-par 76 in Thursday's final round. The France native delivered steady play throughout the tournament and remained near the top of the Little Rock lineup across all three rounds.

"Eleonore played some really solid golf this week," Little Rock head coach Jenna Birch said. "She stayed patient, managed the course well, and put herself in good positions throughout the tournament."

Sophomore Iara Martin also turned in a strong showing, finishing 18th overall at +9 after posting a three-over-par 75in the final round. Martin recorded a 38 on the front nine and a 37 on the back to close the event with steady play.

"Lara continues to show how consistent she can be for us," Birch said. "She competed well all week and gave us another strong effort."

Cloe Poizac delivered one of the Trojans' best rounds of the day, firing a one-over-par 73 in the final round to finish the tournament at +11 overall.

Fehild Graesel also finished the event at +11 after carding a 78 (+6) Thursday, while Elvira Flodstrom posted a 77 (+5)in the final round to close the tournament at +18 overall.
Birch said the tournament provided valuable experience as the Trojans continue their spring schedule.

"I thought our team competed well this week and showed a lot of resilience," Birch said. "This course can challenge you, and we saw some good things that we can build on moving forward."
Little Rock will now turn its attention to the next event of the spring season as the Trojans continue preparing for postseason play.
Little Rock will now turn its attention to the ULM Invitational which tees off Monday, March 30 in Monroe, La.
