BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – Little Rock freshmen shine as
Jeremiah Patton and
Jordan Morgan win Ohio Valley Conference weekly honors.
Morgan won co-Field Athlete of the Week and Freshman of the Week, while Patton earned his third outdoor weekly awarb d with a co-Freshman of the Week honor.
Morgan recently broke the school record in the triple jump with a mark of 12.89 meters and placed first at the Prairie View A&M Relays. Her mark also ranks second in the South Central region and makes her the highest-ranked freshman in the triple jump in that field.
"I'm grateful and excited for this recognition. I know there's still more to come," said Morgan.
Patton set a blazing 10.25 in the 100 meters, easily winning the race at Prairie View last weekend. His time ranks third in the school's all-time top 10, fourth in the South Central region so far this outdoor season, and makes him the highest-ranked freshman in the 100 meters in the region.
He also helped the 4x100 meter relay team to a third-place finish as the second leg. Patton has now won six OVC weekly awards this season and has shined in every meet he has competed in.
"There's still a lot of work to be put in, and continuously winning weekly awards just shows that the work I'm putting in is paying off," said Patton.
Head coach
J.P. Behnke is proud of their performances this past weekend.
"
Jeremiah Patton and
Jordan Morgan earning OVC weekly honors shows the hard work they've put in," Behnke said. "It's great to see their effort pay off and build momentum toward the OVC Championship."
