Soccer to Hold Final Two Home Matches This Weekend

LITTLE ROCK - The Little Rock soccer team (3-5-6, 0-1-4 Sun Belt) will play in the last two home games of the season this weekend on Friday and Sunday. The Trojans host ULM on Friday at 6:00 p.m. before welcoming Appalachian State on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. The Sunday match will be kicked off with a Trojan tailgate for fans, beginning thirty minutes before the start of the game.

Trojan Report
Little Rock set the program record for most ties in a single season (6) last weekend after holding Coastal Carolina to a double overtime draw. The match also added a point toward Sun Belt play, as the Trojans are caught in a four-way tie within the conference standings. Now with only five games remaining, this weekend will be crucial for Little Rock in order to advance to the Sun Belt Championship. Trojan Leaders
The Little Rock defense is the highlight of a team that has held four Sun Belt teams to draws, three of which were shutouts. Junior midfielder Morgan Smocovich continues to be key in coordinating ball movement, leading the team in assists as well as shots on goal. Meanwhile, keeper Julia Curatolo holds a nearly perfect save percentage in conference play (.929), the best in the league, with 50 saves total.

Scouting ULM
The ULM Warhawks (3-7-2) round out the 11 teams in conference stands, with a 0-4 record in the Sun Belt. ULM seems to lack the defensive capabilities of the Trojans, having allowed 32 goals this season, with 18 during conference play. However, the Warhawks have notched two goals against two of the current top three teams: one against Troy and one versus Arkansas State. Last year, Little Rock defeated ULM 1-0 to kick off a six-game win streak, and looks to pick up that luck again.

Scouting Appalachian State
The Mountaineers (4-7-2, 1-3-1 Sun Belt) are one of the four tied with Little Rock with four points toward conference play, having lost to Coastal Carolina, Louisiana, and Texas State - all teams that the Trojans have held to draws. Senior Ava Dawson leads Appalachian State with four goals and two assists on the season, collecting one against Georgia Southern, the team's sole Sun Belt victory. In 2018, the Mountaineers downed Little Rock 3-1 on the road, just a few days before the Trojans began their journey to win the conference tournament.
