FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Little Rock freshman
Spencer Cardinal smashed his own personal record time in the 5,000m run and entered Little Rock's top-10 charts at the John McDonnell Invitational in Fayetteville Saturday evening.

Cardinal ran 14.46.92, topping his personal best time by nearly 13 seconds, as he finished eighth in the 5K race, beating Alabama's Paul Selden by nearly a half-second. His time ranks as the ninth-best in school history and is the fastest 5K time by a Little Rock runner in four years.

Saturday's action was the first in a two-day meet in Fayetteville. Also competing Saturday was a pair of Trojans in the women's pole vault.
Avianna Trinidad finished 15
th by clearing a height of 11-1.5 (3.39m) while
Tricia Pierce finished 16
th with the same height clearance.

Action resumes Sunday with field events beginning at 10 a.m. and running events starting at Noon.
