BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – Following a standout performance in the pole vault, senior
Brooklyn Marcee has been named the Ohio Valley Conference Female Field Athlete of the Week.
Marcee earned the honor after a strong showing last Friday at the Carl Kight Invite & Multi, hosted by Stephen F. Austin.
She tied for first place with a mark of 3.91 meters, her best outdoor mark of the season. The clearance ranks first in the OVC and sits among the top 100 marks in NCAA Division I this year.
"I'm excited to finally see some of the progress show," said Marcee. "It's motivating, and I'm looking forward to what the rest of the season has in store."
Marcee has been a consistent force for the Trojans, earning a silver medal in the pole vault at the OVC Indoor Championships this past February. She has also recorded multiple top-three finishes at previous OVC Championships, establishing herself as one of the conference's top vaulters.
"Brooklyn had her best meet of the year at SFA and it's great to see her recognized for finishing in 1st," said head coach
J.P. Behnke. "She attempted some heights that she had not seen yet this year which will prepare her for the next couple meets."
Marcee continues a strong stretch for Little Rock, as a Trojan has now earned an OVC weekly award in each of the first three weeks of the outdoor season. She becomes the fifth different Trojan to receive weekly honors this season.
Little Rock's next meet will be on the hill, as the team travels to Fayetteville for the Arkansas Spring Invite on Saturday, April 11.
