STARKVILLE, Miss. – Alison Stephens smashed her own school record in the discus by over seven feet as action opened up Friday afternoon at the Maroon and White Invitational hosted by Mississippi State.

Stephens, a Canada native, threw 154-1 (46.96m) to finish seventh overall and break her won school record by seven feet and one inch. The throw moves her into the top 10 in the Sun Belt Conference in the event. She also recorded a 13
th place finish in the hammer throw Friday, throwing 154-0 (46.95m).

Helensia Green recorded the best finish of any Trojan at the meet, earning bronze with a 200m time of24.72 while
Aaliyah Lacy followed in fourth, running 24.92. Green's time ranks ninth in school history.

The best men's finish came from
Ryan Curington as his long jump mark of 24-1.75 (7.36m) won the event, marking his first career win. He remains in contention for a spot at the NCAA West Prelims at the end of May.

Johnathan Jones tied for fourth in the high jump after clearing 6-11 (2.11m) while
Breya Clark cleared 5-5 (1.65m) on the women's side to finish eighth with the fourth-best mark in school history.

Cogan DeRousselle posted a season-best time of 21.43 to finish fifth in the 200m while
Aaron Soltmann's time of 16:15.89 in the 5,000m placed him sixth.

Action continues in Starkville on Saturday with field events starting at 11 a.m. while running events begin at 1 p.m.
