MOBILE, Ala. – Tricia Pierce set a school record in the pole vault as she claimed the bronze medal on the opening day of the Sun Belt Track and Field Championships in Mobile, Alabama Thursday evening.

Pierce cleared a height of 12-6.75 (3.83m), setting a new school record and besting her own top career mark by seven inches, as she placed third in the event and scored the first points of the meet for the Trojans. She became the first Little Rock athlete to clear the 12-foot threshold in the pole vault.

Ka'Neisha Jackson advanced in the 400m hurdles after finishing fifth in the prelims with a time of 1:01.74. She moves on to Saturday's finals as her time advanced her out of the prelims.

Alison Stephens registered the second-best hammer throw in school history as her mark of 166-10 (50.87m) placed her 10
th overall.

In the men's hammer throw,
Isaiah Parker posted a new personal best mark and now ranks fourth in school history with a throw of 160-9 (49.01m). He placed 13
th in the competition.

Friday's action at the Sun Belt Championships starts with field events at 12:30 p.m. while running events will start at 5 p.m. The action will be broadcasted live on ESPN+ starting at 5 p.m.
