Banks Matches School Record, Curington Claims Silver at Sun Belt Championships

MOBILE, Ala. – Ricardo Banks tied the school record in the 800m to advance to Saturday's finals and Ryan Curington put the Trojans on the board by claiming the silver medal in the long jump as action continued at the Sun Belt Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Mobile on Friday.

Banks ran 1:50.82 to match the school record originally set by Dmitry Shokur in 2003. His time placed him fifth in an extremely fast prelims race and qualified him for Saturday's finals race.

Earlier in the day, Ryan Curington posted the second-best long jump in school history to secure him second place and the silver medal. Curington jumped 24-11.75 (7.61m) in a personal best performance.

Cogan DeRousselle posted an eighth-place finish in the 100m dash prelims as he ran 10.64 to advance to Saturday's finals.

Jalen Black posted a similar finish in the 400m prelims, running 48.07 to finish eighth and also advance to Saturday's finals. That time is a personal best mark and ranks as the ninth-fastest time in school history.

Action at the three-day championship meet wraps up Saturday in Mobile.
