CONWAY, Ark. - The Little Rock Track and Field teams finished the first weekend of the outdoor season strong as the Trojans completed the second day of the Richard Martin Jr. Invitational Saturday. The Trojans finished first in 11 events, while
Janae Largins broke the school outdoor record in the shot put.
FIELD EVENTS
Largins broke the school outdoor record in the shot put she had previously set last year with a throw of 47-9.25 (14.56m) to place first in the event.
Aaliyah Mathis placed second with a personal best distance of 46-4 (14.12m) to rank her third in Little Rock records.
Alison Stephens placed 14th with a throw of 36-9.25 (11.21m), while
Kiara Moss placed 15th with a distance of 36-8.5 (11.19m).
In the men's shot put,
Casey Griffin placed eighth with a throw of 45-1.25 (13.75m).
Stephens also placed second in the women's discus with a throw of 142-10 (43.53m), while Mathis placed fourth with a distance of 140-1 (42.70m).
Matthew Fox was the top Trojan finisher in the men's discus placing sixth with a throw of 129-5 (39.45m).
Patrick Young placed tenth with a distance of 107-6 (32.77m), and
Ethan Sorrels placed 12th with a throw of 96-5 (29.40m).
In the women's high jump,
Ragen Hodge tied for second place with a personal best jump of 5-3.5 (1.61m), while
Alicia Long placed tied for fifth with a person best of 5-11.5 (1.56m).
Deshawn Roberts won the men's high jump with a distance of 6-8.75 (2.05m). Young placed fourth with a personal best jump of 6-5.25 (1.96m) to now rank him eighth in Little Rock records.
Emilio Varela placed fifth with a jump of 6-33.25 (1.91m), while
Falon Short recorded a distance of 6-1.25 (1.86m) for sixth place. Fox placed seventh with a jump of 6-1,25 (1.86m).
The Trojans swept first place in the long jump events as
Dion Murombe won the men's event with a distance of 22-7.75 (6.90m), while
Alexia Washington recorded a personal best jump in the women's even winning with a distance of 18-11.25 (5.77m) to now rank her fifth in Little Rock records. Layloni Waston placed fifth with a distance of 18-2 (5.54m), and
Kendall King placed 11th with a jump of 15-11.25 (4.86m).
Brooklyn Marcee won the women's pole vault with a distance of 12-3.25 (3.74m), while
Ludovica Polini placed fourth with a vault of 11-7.25 (3.54m).
RUNNING EVENTS
The running events started with the women's 5,000m as
Brooke Walker placed eighth with a time of 19:48.63.
Spencer Cardinal was the top Trojan finisher in the men's 5,000m placing second with a personal best time of 14:41.37 to rank him sixth in Little Rock records.
Zach McPhee also recorded a personal best time of 14:43.41 for a third place finish. He now ranks eighth in school records.
Josh Beam placed sixth in 14:52.95, and
Aaron Soltmann placed tenth with a time of 15:23.27.
Joel Allen placed 12th with a time of 15:36.08.
The team of
Maliyah Holland,
Takia Palmer,
Landri Schreier, and
Zoa Adams placed second in the 4x100m relay with a time of 46.68. In the men's 4x100 relay, the team of
Gabriel Torres,
Cogan DeRousselle,
Frankie Grey, and
Troy McKnight won the event with a time of 40.25 that now ranks them seventh in Little Rock records.
In the women's 800m,
Cayla Anthony was the top Trojan finisher placing second with a time of 2:18.24.
Marcie Cudworth placed third in 2:19.04, while
Kennedie Rhein placed fifth in 2:22.08.
Amy Calvillo placed ninth recording a time of 2:28.66.
Nicholas Newby won the men's 800m with a time of 1:50.91.
Devin Stevens placed second with a personal best time of 1:51.83 to rank him sixth in school records, while
Shane Fisher placed sixth with a personal best time of 1:57.22.
Carolin Bielert placed fourth in the women's 100m hurdles recording a time of 15.29.
In the men's 110m hurdles,
Matthew Tyeskie won the event with a personal best time of 14.05, just shy of the school record of 14.03, to rank him second in Little Rock records. DeRousselle placed third with a personal best time of 14.27 ranking him third in school records, while
John Sanderson placed sixth with a personal best time of 14.77 to rank him seventh in the record books.
Adams placed second in the women's 400m with a time of 57.82, while
Juan Garza was the top Trojan finisher in the men's 400m finishing third in 49.12. Fox placed sixth in 51.73, and Sorrels placed eighth in 52.07.
In the women's 100m,
Neveah Hill placed 11th with a time of 12.67, and
Jasmine Torres finished in 13th placed with a time of 12.72.
Crystal Trowers placed 14th recording a time of 13.04, while
Kendall King placed 16th in 13.22.
Torres won the men's 100m with a time of 10.56.
Teylen Patterson placed fifth in 10.79, while Murombe placed ninth in 11.06. Short recorded a time of 11.65 for 16th place, and Garza placed 17th in 11.65.
Kyla Lochtefeld won the women's 1,500m with a time of 4:45.02, while
Panagiota Lazarou placed tenth with a time of 5:50.79.
Joel Allen placed fifth in the men's 1,500m with a time of 4:10.23.
In the 400m hurdles,
Alexia Allen placed second in 1:03.71, while Grey won the men's event in 53.54. Patterson recorded a time of 54.76 for second place.
Schreier was the top Trojan finisher in the women's 200m placing third in 24.53. Palmer placed fourth in 24.64, while Holland placed seventh in 25.00. Bielert placed 15th with a time of 26.44, and Hill placed 18th with a time of 26.74.
In the men's 200m, Murombe placed sixth with a time of 22.74, and Sanderson placed 12th in 23.34.
