ST. LOUIS, Mo. and SAN MARCOS, Texas - The Little Rock Track and Field distance and multi event teams finished strong at the final day at the WashU Distance Carnival and the Bobcat Invitational.
Matthew Fox set the new school record in the Decathlon recording 7,236 points, while
Nicholas Newby set the WashU 800m Stadium Record with a time of 1:49.51.

Fox placed second in the Decathlon with a personal best score of 7,236 points to set the school record. The mark bested his previous record by 80 points.
Ethan Sorrels finished in sixth place with a personal best score of 6,771 points to rank him second in Little Rock records. In his first Decathlon,
Patrick Young recorded a personal best 6,608 points for an eighth place finish and third placed ranking in school records.
In the discus, Fox placed fifth with a throw of 113-09 (34.69m), while Young placed seventh with a distance of 107-11 (32.89m). Sorrels placed ninth in the event with a throw of 105-02 (32.06m).
Fox was the top Trojan finisher in the pole vault tying for third with a personal best vault of 14-05.25 (4.40m) to rank him seventh in school records. Sorrels placed fifth with a vault of 14-01.25 (4.30m), while Young tied for sixth with a personal best distance of 13-09.25 to rank him eighth in Little Rock records.
Fox won the javelin with a throw of 185-11 (56.67m). Young placed third with a personal best throw of 156-08 (47.76m) to rank him sixth in school records, while Sorrels placed tenth with a throw of 141-08 (43.19m).
In the 100m hurdles, Fox recorded a personal best time of 14.77 for second place ranking him tied for seventh in school records. Sorrels placed seventh in 15.40, and Young recorded a time of 16.49 for 11th place.
Sorrels was the top Trojan finisher in the last event, the 1500m, placing sixth with a time of 4:46.39. Young placed 12th in 4:58.02, while Fox placed 13th in 4:58.83.
WASHU DISTANCE CARNIVAL
Newby won the 800m with a stadium record time of 1:49.51. His time was four seconds from the school record he set this season.
Devin Stevens placed seventh in the event with a time of 1:52.25.
In the women's 5000m,
Panagiota Lazarou recorded a personal best time of 18:18.44.
Shane Fisher placed 11th in the 1500m with a time of 3:55.53, a personal best.
In the men's 10,000m,
Spencer Cardinal was the top Trojan finisher placing 25th with a personal best time of 30:33.72 ranking him fourth in Little Rock records. Aaron Soltman also recorded a personal best time of 32:25.02.
Zach McPhee placed 11th in the 3000m steeplechase with a personal best time of 9:12.39 to rank him fourth in school records.
Joel Allen placed 28th with a personal best time of 9:40.29.
