FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. and CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - The Little Rock Track and Field teams competed in different meets this week as the Trojans set three school records while competing at the John McDonnell Invitational and the Virginia Challenge.
Aaliyah Mathis,
Andrew Payton, and
Spencer Cardinal set new personal bests and new school record marks.

JOHN MCDONNELL INVITATIONAL
Mathis won the shot put with a personal best throw of 48-10.75 (14.90m) to best the school record mark set by her teammate. She also placed second in the discus with a distance of 144-6 (44.05m).
Kiara Moss placed 13th in the shot put with a throw of 38-3.5 (11.57m), while
Alison Stephens placed eighth in the discus with a mark of 107-0 (32.63m). On Friday, Stephens recorded a distance of 153-3 (46.71m) in the hammer for the fifth place finish.
In the men's shot put,
Casey Griffin placed 11th with a throw of 42-7.5 (12.99m), while
Matthew Fox recorded a distance of 41-8.5 (12.71m) for a 12th place finish. On Friday, Griffin also placed 11th in the hammer with a mark of 159-8 (48.66m).
Cardinal placed third in the 3000m with a personal best time of 8:25.80 to set the Little Rock school record mark.
Aaron Soltmann placed eighth in the event with a personal best time of 8:46.19 to rank him ninth in school records.
In the women's 3000m,
Panagiota Lazarou was the top Trojan finisher placing eighth in 10:43.94.
Kennedie Rhein placed ninth in 10:48.03, while
Brooke Walker recorded a time of 11:16.83 for a 12th place finish.
Juan Garza was the top Trojan finisher in the men's 100m recording a time of 10.61 for tenth place, while Nevaeh Hill recorded a time of 12.34 to be the top female finisher in the event.
In the 200m,
Talia Palmer was the top Trojan recording a time of 25.16, while in the men's event,
Frankie Grey placed sixth with a personal best time of 20.91 to rank him ninth in school records.
Teylen Patterson recorded the fastest time for the Trojans in the 400m clocking in at 50.02, and
Zoa Adams was the top finisher in the women's event with a time of 57.49.
Cayla Anthony placed 15th in the 800m recording a time of 2:18.01.
In the men's 1500m,
Joel Allen recorded a personal best time of 4:00.73, while
Shane Fisher finished in 4:01.09.
Carolin Bielert recorded a time of 15.46 in the 100m hurdles, while in the 110m hurdles,
John Sanderson recorded a personal best mark of 14.57 to rank him fifth in school records.
In the men's 400m hurdles,
Chase Peterson placed 12th with a time of 57.45, while in the women's event,
Alexia Allen was the top Trojan finisher with a time of 1:04.09.
Falon Short was the top Trojan finisher in the men's high jump with a distance of 6-5.5 (1.97m) to tie his personal best mark.
Ethan Sorrels placed tenth with a jump of 6-1.5 (1.87m).
Short also placed fifth in the men's triple jump with a distance of 43-5.25 (13.24m).
In the women's high jump,
Ragen Hodge placed third with a personal best jump of 5-7 (1.70m) to rank her third in school records.
Alicia Long placed ninth with a jump of 5-3 (1.60m), and
Jayden Gilbert finished with a jump of 4-11 (1.50m) to place 14th.
Brooklyn Marcee set a new personal best in the pole vault placing sixth with a mark of 12-4 (3.76m) to rank her second in school records.
Ludovica Polini finished in 11th place with a mark of 11-8 (3.56m).
Ryan Curington placed fifth with a distance of 23-8.25 (7.22m), while
Patrick Young finished in 13th place with a mark of 21-11.5 (6.69m).
In the women's long jump,
Kendall King placed 19th with a jump of 17-0.75 (5.20m).
VIRGINIA CHALLENGE
Payton set the school record in the 1500m with a personal best time of 3:46.13 to best the previous mark set in 2009.
Nicholas Newby placed 21st in the 800m with a time of 1:49.51.
In the men's 3000m steeplechase invite,
Josh Beam placed 23rd with a time of 9:11.39, while in the 3000m steeplechase,
Zach McPhee placed fourth with a personal best time of 9:06.56 to now rank him third in school records.
In the women's 5000m invite,
Marcie Cudworth recorded a time of 17:05.68, and in the 5000m,
Kyla Lochtefeld recorded a time of 17:55.47,
