FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - The Little Rock men's and women's track and field teams finished the regular season on Friday as the Trojans competed at the Arkansas Twilight.
Nicholas Newby and
Andrew Payton led the Trojans both setting school records and qualifying for the NCAA Regionals.
Newby set the outdoor school record in the 800m besting his previous mark with an NCAA Qualifying time of 1:48.61 to place him fourth.
Payton bested his mark in the 1500m recording a time of 3:40.47 to place second, set the school record, and qualify for NCAA Regionals.
The men's 4x100m relay kicked off the events as the team of
Troy McKnight,
Cogan DeRousselle,
Frankie Grey, and
Gabriel Torres recorded the fastest time in the event this season clocking in at 40.01. This mark ranks the team seventh in Little Rock records.
In the women's 100m,
Neveah Hill placed tenth recorded a time of 12.35.
Jasmine Torres placed eighth in the women's 400m hurdles recording a time of 1:08.25, while in the men's event,
Teylen Patterson placed sixth in 54.86.
The Trojans will travel to Charleston, Ill. to compete in the 2024 Ohio Valley Conference Championships next week. Competition starts on Thursday, May 9.
