The Little Rock men's cross country team won back-to-back Sun Belt Championships in 2001 and 2002. The Trojans went on to place 12th at the 2001 NCAA South Central Regional in College Station, Texas, and seventh at the 2002 NCAA South Central Regional in Waco, Texas. Brent Corbitt placed ninth at the 2002 NCAA South Central Regional and advanced to the NCAA Championship.
 
Corbitt won the 2002 Sun Belt Championship as an individual was a five-time Sun Belt Runner of the Week over the course of his Little Rock career.
 
The Trojans' women's cross country team also repeated as conference champs in 2001 and 2002. The teams picked up seventh and fifth-place finishes at the NCAA South Central Regional Championships in 2001 and 2002, respectively. Leah Thorvilson was Little Rock's top finisher at both regionals, including an 11th-place finish in 2002.
 
Thorvilson also won the 2002 Sun Belt Championship as an individual. She totaled three Sun Belt Runner of the Week honors in her Trojan tenure.
 
Between both teams, 14 Trojans earned All-Sun Belt honors over the two-year span. Head coach Kirk Elias was the league's Coach of the Year in 2001 and 2002.
